Get to know GLCCA board member Rebecca Roberts-Stewart, chief operating officer at L.J. Ross Associates, Inc.

How did you get started in this industry?
During my college years, I actively pursued a full-time job to sustain myself while working toward completing my degree in criminal justice. Following graduation, my passion for the debt collection industry was so profound that I chose to remain in this field, forging a lasting commitment to it.

Do you have a career highlight that you are most proud of?
One of the career highlights that I am proud of is my appointment to the Collection Practices Board in Michigan. In this significant role, I contributed to the oversight of all collection agencies and licensure within the state, ensuring compliance with regulations. The board plays a crucial role in maintaining industry standards and, when necessary, it has the authority to impose fines to uphold ethical practices. This experience has not only been a personal achievement but also a valuable opportunity to make a positive impact on the regulatory landscape of the debt collection industry.

Why did you want to get involved in GLCCA?
Motivated by my passion for the collection industry, I sought involvement with Great Lakes Credit and Collection Association. Prior to joining GLCCA, I had been actively engaged with the Michigan Association of Collection Agencies for over a decade. This extended period of involvement in a regional association reflects my commitment to staying informed, connected, and contributing to the growth and ethical practices of the collection industry. Joining GLCCA was a natural progression, allowing me to extend my network and contribute to the broader credit and collection community.
